An acre requires about 75g (15,000 seeds).

Nursery:

Cabbages generally take about 3 weeks in the nursery.

At sowing: Confidor 10g/20l
After 7 days: Confidor 5g/20l + Ridomil 40g/20l
After 7 days: Confidor 5g/20l + Ridomil 50g/20l

Seedbed:

Incorporating well composed manure to the top soil/ planting hole prior to transplanting will be an added advantage (preferably cow/goat manure).

1. Spacing may vary depending on the potential cabbage head size and/or the canopy of the variety in question. However, the following spacings can be used:

Small-sized: 45cm by 45cm. Approximate plants per acre- 16,000
Medium-sized: 45cm by 60cm. Approximate plants per acre- 13,000
Large-sized: 60cm by 60cm. Approximate plants per acre- 10,000

2. Cabbages generally have shallow roots system. Therefore, they require frequent water/irrigation especially during head formation.

3. Most varieties take about 70-100 days to maturity after transplanting, depending mainly on the potential head size.

4. Feeding regime may change depending on the general outlook of your crops/ soil test results.

5. The spraying/ spray intervals may vary depending on disease and pests pressure.
