Nursery:

Seedbed:

Incorporating well composed manure to the top soil/ planting hole prior to transplanting will be an added advantage (preferably cow/goat manure).

1. Spacing may vary depending on the potential cabbage head size and/or the canopy of the variety in question. However, the following spacings can be used:

· Small-sized: 45cm by 45cm. Approximate plants per acre- 16,000

· Medium-sized: 45cm by 60cm. Approximate plants per acre- 13,000

· Large-sized: 60cm by 60cm. Approximate plants per acre- 10,000

Cabbages generally have shallow roots system. Therefore, they require frequent water/irrigation especially during head formation.
