The optimum altitude for Nyota is 1,000 to 1600m above sea level. Can grow well in low to medium rainfall areas (750 - 1000 mm per annum). 

Nyota bean can grow on a wide range of soil types but best growth occurs in soils that are deep, well drained, high in organic matter and with a pH range of 6 -7.
