Super K Vines is a high-yielding, fodder-focused sweet potato vine selected or bred for maximum vegetative growth rather than tuber production. It is essentially a “tuberless” or low-tuber variety, channeling all energy into lush, leafy vines ideal for cut-and-carry feeding or silage.
Key Characteristics:
Nutritional Value: Very high crude protein (commonly 21-25%, with reports of 21.1% to as high as 30% under good management). Rich in vitamins (A, C), beta-carotene, iron, and other minerals. Highly palatable with almost zero waste.
Growth & Yield: Fast-growing and vigorous. First harvest typically around 60 days after planting (when vines cover the ground), with subsequent cuts every 30-45 days. Highly productive even in small spaces.
Adaptability: Drought-tolerant, thrives in poor soils, and requires minimal inputs. Performs well in tropical and subtropical climates.
Uses: Excellent for increasing milk production in lactating cows, promoting growth in calves, and supporting overall health and fertility in livestock. Often intercropped with grasses like Super Napier or maize for integrated fodder systems. Can be fed fresh, wilted, or ensiled into long-lasting silage.
Management Tips:
Propagated using vine cuttings (30 cm pieces are common).
Best fed as a supplement alongside bulkier forages like Napier grass.
Feed recommendations: 10–15 kg fresh vines per dairy cow per day.
Perennial-like regrowth allows multiple harvests from the same planting.
